Scope and boundaries

One to two weeks to catalogue customer-provided .mpp, XML, Excel and saved reporting snapshots. Project Online retired on 30 September 2026; this work does not access or recover data from the retired service.

The PMO chooses the target after reviewing source quality, licensing, feature fit and reporting needs. Rebuilding projects, implementing a target platform and creating production plans require a separate agreement.

The assessment does not make production changes. A named customer owner reviews the findings, priorities, dependencies, and proposed next step before any follow-on work is scoped or performed.

  1. Gather surviving files

    Customer project managers provide available .mpp, XML, Excel and saved reporting evidence.

  2. Catalogue gaps

    Score source quality and identify projects that need manager interviews.

  3. Compare targets

    Review Microsoft Planner premium, Project Server Subscription Edition and Dynamics 365 Project Operations against requirements.

  4. Plan the rebuild

    Give the PMO a recommended path, licensing needs, reporting approach and separate implementation scope.
