A data-center exit or VMware migration needs a controlled workload wave, tested connectivity, rollback ownership, operational evidence, and customer approval at every production checkpoint.

How the engagement runs

  1. Weeks 1 and 2: Confirm and design

    Confirm scope, dependencies, change control, acceptance criteria, and the low-level design for the landing zone, private cloud, connectivity, security, backup, and operations.

  2. Weeks 3 and 4: Build the foundation

    Deploy and validate the approved Azure and Azure VMware Solution foundation, connectivity, migration tooling, and pilot runbook.

  3. Weeks 5 to 7: Pilot and migrate

    Migrate the approved pilot, resolve in-scope defects, then execute one approved production wave with checkpoint evidence and rollback readiness.

  4. Week 8: Validate and hand off

    Complete operational validation, cost and capacity review, knowledge transfer, as-built evidence, and the remaining-wave plan.

Scope and boundaries

  • The public scope covers one Azure region, one private cloud, one source VMware environment, one pilot group, and one production wave of up to 25 eligible virtual machines.
  • Application refactoring, database modernization, mass data migration, and remediation outside the agreed migration path are excluded.
  • Additional regions, private clouds, workload waves, carrier services, and third-party licensing require separate scope or remain customer costs.
  • Every production migration and cutover requires a named customer approver and tested rollback steps.
